| Let me say this first. This laptop has been my faithful servant for over two years and boy has it seen it's fair share. This laptop in the Vaio series really screams out to me one thing. WORK. The notebook itself isn't too entirely complicated. Exterior features includes a keybaord with function lock numpad, power button, busy/hibernating/loading LEDs, mouse touchpad, 2 USB ports, AC port, ethernet port, modem port, s400 port and SD card port. Along with its 17.5" screen it really gets down to the basics. This Vaio runs at 1.8 GHz with 512 SDRAM. It came equipped with Windows XP. This is my first laptop review so bare with me, I really don't know what I should be writing about. In terms of everyday performance it's up to par. Now personally I'm a gamer as well as a casual cinematographer. If you're looking to do either then this one really isn't the to do it, but it wasn't made for it. The focal point of this laptop was functionalityand efficiency for a good price. Although I may have purchased this on Black Friday for ~$890, it gets me by in college. Which is exactly what it's supposed to do. (Oh yeah, I got the silver and cream colored one. Super hard to keep clean. I've heard the silver and black was much cooler. It's been mistaken to look like a MacBook.) |

| My girlfriend is a flight attendant or stewardess (as she hates to be called). She is a globetrotter and she takes her little Vaio with her. She has a 10.5" screen and it is perfect for her - these machines - the subnotebook sized vaios's, seem a little overpriced - but she made a good point to tell me when she bought it - she wanted something small and light (less than 3lbs) and something with a little style - even if she had to pay a little bit more - she eventually got a used one for under $1400 and she says it's worth every penny. |

| Like all Sony products, the VAIO's are a bit overpriced, but they are really nice machines overall. Not too long ago, they were plaqued with bad HD's, but that is a distant memory now. Their screens are some of the best you can buy, and the look and feel of the machines is superb. Considering you can get a nice 17" model for under $1700, I don't think they are way out of range, but they are on the high side. |

| The VAIOs are one of the best notebooks I like. The design is wonderfull. Classic but powerfull. Clean but with style. Although I like the FZ serie the most. The Sony VAIO VGN-N110G: ![]() |

| Yup, that's exactly what it looks like. It's been mistaken for a MacBook from a distance a couple of times. It does get dirty quickly though.

| Is it me or am I the only one here that thinks that Vaio's are way overpriced? :-/ maybe only in Australia.. Half the computer companies tend to be overpriced over here and not actually convert their prices with the current exchange rate.

| Chris- it really depends on which model you're talking about. Sony VAIO's are relatively expensive compared to Toshiba, Dell, HP,etc. even here in the U.S. for a few of reasons. Some of their lines are obviously luxury notebooks, with high-end features like Bllu-ray, carbon fiber lids, LEDs, etc. and are very expensive. Even Sony's mainstream notebooks can cost about $50-$150 more than comparably equipped notebooks. Sony makes some very nice computers, but overall it's not a brand for those on a tight budget. There are some great values/sales from time to time at SonyStyle.com and at their retail partners, but not nearly as often as with Dell and HP.

| The one I found was about $400 or so more on the RRP, maybe it's the actual build as you said, carbon fibre lids etc.
