You know, I love torrents just as much as the next person but standing the test of time in the realm of file sharing is a surprisingly little-known place called newsgroups. What's even better is the fact that so many people have free access to newsgroups through their ISP yet they have no idea! Even if you don't, Shemes have their own Usenet server farm, so you can purchase access to their servers for a competitive price. Now, what you can obtain via newsgroups is subjective (and sometimes questionable) but there are many times where I have waited and waited for a torrent to start, IRC servers are queued up, Google querying yields nothing, etc. It's not uncommon that I simply fire up GrabIt by Shemes, search my subscribed groups and bam... downloading what I'm looking for IMMEDIATELY at max d/l capacity!

GrabIt's user interface is extremely streamlined and simple to navigate. I never have to use the toolbar up top. Everything I need is integrated into the right-click menu, so navigation and selection are all right there at one click. It's literally as simple as installing the application, putting in the details of your ISP's or subscribed server with user/password info, updating your group list, picking and choosing the groups that interest you the most, then browsing the contents of that group and downloading whatever you desire! If you're downloading movies, people typically cap the movie with a JPG or a movie sample that you can download for verification! Again, the amount or type of content you're looking for is subjective but if you have free access to newsgroup serves via your ISP, go subscribe to the newsgroups that appear the most interesting to you and see what they have to offer!
