Default Photoshop

Intro:
"It’s hard to believe, but Photoshop is nearly 20 years old. The original Apple Macintosh version was written in 1988 by brothers Thomas and John Knoll. The first full version published by Adobe appeared on the Macintosh in 1990. The entire program came on a single 1.44MB floppy disk.

Photoshop has grown and changed over the years, but has always incorporated the latest developments, reinforcing its position as the industry standard for professional image editing. The first Windows version (v2.5) appeared in 1992, layers were introduced in version 3.0 in 1994, multiple undo history in version 5.0 in 1998, and camera RAW support was added with version 7.0 in 2002. The concept of Creative Suite, incorporating and harmonising a whole range of Adobe’s other programs, including ImageReady, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Encore and AfterEffects, was introduced in 2003 along with Photoshop 8.0, known as Photoshop CS. An update, unsurprisingly called Photoshop CS2, came along less than two years later in April 2005, adding many new features such as Smart Objects, a red-eye tool and the invaluable Spot Healing brush."

Photoshop CS3:
Version 10.0 improves many existing features, adds some surprising new ones, and also greatly improves the appearance of the user interface, something which has needed doing since version 7.0. Photoshop is launched along with the rest of the newly revamped Creative Suite 3, but is of course available as a stand-alone program.
I'm use every week Photoshop (not CS3) and I must say I love it. It's the best photography software I have ever seen.

But what about the price?
I can tell you, and you probably knew it, Photoshop isn't realy cheap for people like you and me.
It's around the 1 000 dollars.
But I can give you some hope. Here you can download the lastest version of photoshop for free, atleast for 30 days.

Photoshop CS3 extended is better?
The differences between Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 extended are:

- 3D and motion support with the ability to edit 3D content and incorporate it into 2D compositions, paint and clone over multiple video frames, and more

- Comprehensive image analysis with new image measurement and counting tools, MATLAB integration, and DICOM file support

Conclusion
Like I told you before, it's one the best programs for photography. The price is high, but if you choose for an older photoshop version, like Photoshop 8/CS, you can save a lot of money and don't think Photoshop 8/CS or 9/CS2 are crap! Because they are NOT!

If you have questions about Photoshop or how to download the Trial version, please feel free to ask here.

Photoshop is expensive, but for students (like me) it can be found at most university bookstores or on line at a much better price. Try Here for more info.

Yes... imagine. A 1.44MB floppy-worthy into a CS3-wise 1GB giant. And gosh, are all those extra features ever even going to be used?
I tried the trial... it has so many options *_* But I got the hang of it, and I spent the last half of the trial making significantly improved drawings.
But still, Paint.NET is still my favorite Photoshop alternative.

ya photoshop is expensive. and so are most adobe products. But, its worth the money I think. With all you can do with it, and with all the download plug-ins you can download, its crazy. Yep it is at a lot of schools, and sometimes even at libraries, which is where I go to use when im free.

Hehe. There was a thing on Digg, and even featured on DiggNation a bit ago that found that about 60% or so of Photoshop users were pirates.

Not at surprising considering the cost of the software. $600 for Photoshop alone? Eesh. Of course it's cheaper to bundle and get one of the Web Premium or whatever packs but cheap as in at least $1000. Eesh again.

It was fun to note that Photoshop might not be nearly as popular if it hadn't been for pirates. Fun to toss around in yer noggin for a bit.

Also the part where the alternative, GIMP, was mentioned as well as the whole idea of using GIMP instead of Photoshop with it being called GIMP and all. LOL!

Looking forward to owning a LEGAL copy by getting Web or Design Premium for about $500 through JourneyEd though. If I ever manage to get that much cash. Ironically, probably won't be able to take advantage of the student discount until after school and I have a real job but then I'll have to pay full price.

ya its gotten popular by cracked versions of it. I really dont like pirating. Its basically like stealing something and people go to jail for it. But I think the main reason they do that is because of the really high price. If it was a little cheaper, I think more people would by it leggally instead of gettin pirated versions of it.

If they really cared about people pirating they could always make it so that they can't pirate it, it's not that hard.
Just make the serial number available for one email address.

The reason they leave it open is because they want more people to use the product, more market share.

but its not the serial, its the patches people make. Special custom patches that overwrite the existing exe files. And I dont think they can do anything about that.

I think they could find a way that would be a hell of a lot harder to make a patch for - really, if they cared they would do what I suggested with the serials

Plus, they have actually patched those patches I guess you could say
