Just make the serial number available for one email address.

The reason they leave it open is because they want more people to use the product, more market share.
It's really not that easy to stop pirates as djeuro said. Otherwise you wouldn't find cracked versions of it. There also wouldn't be so many ways to obtain illegal copies of Windows as well.

In China especially, software piracy is a huge problem and there's not much companies such as Microsoft and Adobe can do other than wait for the Chinese gov't to take action.

I'm all for fully legal and licensed software because I understand that for software developers, this is their career, this is their loss. Unfortunately, too many people only think about the cheap and easy route that benefits them the best, be it illegal or not.

Plus, they have actually patched those patches I guess you could say
but I think they DO care. Because why would they want people to have their 600 dollar software for free? Even if they made a good patch. Someone would somehow find a way around it like every program.

Same here. I do understand that there are patches and all that and they can't 100% full stop piracy BUT they could certainly lower it a heck of a lot with my suggestions.

I heard Sony Acid 6 (?) is pretty much unable to pirate, so good on Sony for that

true, but yet they still earn a HECK of a lot of money.

Is it true that Windows Vista is unable to be pirated because of the way they made it? I dunno - I was just told that :S, it doesn't sound right to me
