Default Screen Capture tool

Recently I was looking for a screen capture tool to help explain to my friend how he can use ReadyBoost on Windows Vista. While I was searching, I found a great program called CamStudio! It's free, open source, and can be downloaded from CamStudio - Free Screen Recording Software.

This program records whatever is on your desktop as it happens! It's useful for creating tutorials and showing others how to use certain programs and accomplish certain tasks. You can also use it to share videos of problems you're having with applications or your desktop and show them to others!

While recording you have the option to choose whether you want to save the video in .AVI as a movie file, or a .SWF flash file. You can also use keyboard shortcuts to pause, record, or stop your screen capture. This is a really great program, and it's FREE!

Errrr whatever happened to good ol PrintScreen?

Although, consider investing in a good paid app if you require frequent print screens. I run an online teaching facility, where I teach people via online tutorials. I regularly need to take screen shots of applications while they are doing something so as to demonstrate their working to my 'students' (I cannot really call them students 'cos theyre generally much older than me! My eldest student is 64!! ).

P.S. - I bought this app thanks to the tution fees! hehe seems the students themselves paid for this! Literally!

You can check out this app at: Hyperionics - the best screen capture software - Free download

Cheers all!

You could use Print Screen but it doesn't record what you are doing on the screen, it just captures a still image of your screen.

Wow, this sure does look like a great product jazboy! SnagIt definitely has a lot more features and allows you to do much more with your screen capture. It also has a built-in image editor that allows you to edit right inside the SnagIt program. This is great. I'll try the free trial of SnagIt the next time I need to do a screen capture. If anyone else is interested in downloading this software, you can get a free trial at Screen Capture | SnagIt | TechSmith's Screen Capture Software . If you want to purchase it, it would cost $40!

Snagit is not free.

Seems like the screen capture tool is realy a good one. It's free and seems to have some interesting features.
What about the screen quality?
