| WinRar is a great application it can open just about any zip file or rar file or Unzip it as the case maybe. It does a real nice job compressing down the files. You can encrypt files with passwords and overall it is really good to use. It isn't very bloated and it isn't very complex just simple and easy to use software.I've used it from a command line for a few applications at work, I've also used it at home as well. If you need something to compress a file and you want to try something other than Winzip, give it a try. WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files

| your antivirus didn't reconginze this application so that's why it said its virus. It's pretty popular software. you can look review of this software in download.com site. This software developed by open source community and being a active member of that i can tell its free from virus. but its your wish. |

| I can attest to 7-zip being a trustworthy application. I've been using WinRAR for so long, though, that I haven't found a use for any other compression application. Having used 7-zip in the past for compressing much larger files for transfer to a friend on 56K, when megabytes make a difference, 7-zip does compress more than WinRAR. With broadband becoming more and more of a common find in households and businesses, if you're already an avid user of any particular compression application, it's not worth the little bit of difference to change applications unless you're actually looking to use something different! Yes, I say that even to WinZIP users... lol. WinZIP: The AOL of compression applications! Anyway... two thumbs up for WinRAR on my end!-Stephen ![]()

| I use Winrar, but I also used 7-zip. I think I upgraded to Winrar because 7-zip couldn't unzip .RAR files? But I'm not sure... |
