My friend daniel is buying a new notebook soon (so lucky ) but hes on a low budget and hes thinking about getting a gateway. I think hes going for one of the cheapest models, how do they do against competing companies' low end notebooks?

Their are more people using Gateway then you think. Although I only know one guy that is using a Gateway notebook. HP dv6000 serie is also a good solution for low-end notebooks. You can find one for $800 or below. (I'm a HP fan )

Gateqay notebooks, desktops and other related products are very popular and cost effective way of updating educational institutions to technology. I approve of the brand. At California State University Long Beach, all computer used by the school are Gateway brand desktops and notebooks, over 500+.

Yeah, like with what bboy said, my college has also chosen Gateway for purchasing Tablet PC's to give to every new student for taking notes, doing work, and everything else. Meanwhile the computer labs with the slower machines from years ago are being phased out though CAD and other purpose specific labs will stay.
