Default Dell Computers; Um,... No!

Have you noticed that there seems to be fads among the digital world as we as in fashion? It wasn't that long ago that Dell pretty much had the market cornered as far as computers were concerned. Even now, if you go to most of the computer labs at the university I attend, Dell computers are everywhere.

Dell seems to have gone down somewhat, though. It was the fad for a while, and I don't doubt they still make a good computer or two, but I would go with something more substantial.

For most of you, I'm telling you things you've already heard, but I know there are some who still have not heard.

You know, I agree with you to the extent that people shouldn't just automatically go to Dell if they're looking for specific things, like a DAW, but Dell has really done it right! I remember when Dell first came along and ended up doing away with the overabundance of Packard Bell's and Compaq's. I'm not sure what your personal experience with Dells has been but not a single one of mine have been negative! Granted, most of my experience with them has been in a work environment but they've been solid, dependable machines... unlike other brands I've tried which have given me problems, such as Mac, but I don't fault a whole company solely due to my personal bad experience with what is probably one bad apple out of the bunch. (No pun intended) Toshibas have given me issues before as have Compaqs. All of the HP's I've tried have been solid systems in addition to the Dells I've tried. I mean, I suppose it's all subjective but as far as the Dell thing goes, I've had nothing but positive experiences and their pricing is typically excellent, if you don't just go purchase one from the most expensive retailer out there!

They have gone a little astray in their design area of their Inspiron line up. Talking about laptops but they are coming back now I think, I mean look at the designs of their XPS line up. They are being listed as # 1 on a few Notebook related websites by people.

For the most part, most laptops are going with standard parts to reduce costs, etc. Dell is prominent in the education areas because they give pretty substantial discounts to students and educators. Overall, they are fairly good machines for general use...and their Alienware line is pretty cool. Laptops are for function, not coolness. PC manufacturers are paid to put crapware on machines, so most of the performance hits can be helped by removing alot of that first.

Well I have been using HP Computers since day 1 and the only thing that really hurts me about the overall experience I had with HP is the end user Customer Service. here in india, its really bad! They don't really listen to you and at times you feel whether they truly believe if "Customer is king"!

People who have had a DELL laptop or desktop tell me that dell service is really good and prompt. they come immediately when you have an issue and most issues are solved within 6 working hours!!!

Same, HP's certified repairs over here in Australia downgraded us (that's theft by the way) a heck of a lot without our permission and I only just found out a few weeks ago, VERY disappointing, I hope I win the dragon, it will give them a chance to KEEP a customer who spent a heck of a lot of money on them and received faulty hardware and the service men downgraded us.

my mom got one of the cheaper dell laptops many years ago, and one day while she had it charging a power surge fried everything
we're in the US, but when we called customer support we were sent over to india, i guess theres no where closer?
anyway when she tried to ask them to repair it they just kept saying that theyd send her an installation cd
which obviously wouldnt solve the problem >__> so my mom doesnt like their customer support either

When it comes to schools and offices, Dell dominates the competition! They have a lot of great deals and discounts for businesses and schools/universities, so it makes sense for them to be popular. The only experience I’ve had with Dell computers is at school. I’ve never had a problem with my Dell PC that I used, and I’ve never had it shutdown on me either. I have noticed that their monitors look great, and that may attract people to purchase their computers. I don’t think they’re declining, and from what I’ve seen, they’ve made great high end gaming laptops. Their XPS starts at $499 and you can even customize the color of it. Dell computers have a lot of options for customizability.
