There's a discussion about solid state drives in notebooks about a third of the way through the video and Watkins makes some good points about why SSDs won't go mainstream in notebooks anytime soon.
The biggest problem he says is "there's a lot less capacity and a lot more money" involved. There's also no clear benefit to the end user in terms of battery life and system performance.

I tend to agree with most of his points regarding notebooks. Most people would trade capacity for performance any day of the week. For the foreseeable future HDD's are going to outpace SSDs in that department.

I've always thought SSD was much better than a hard drive, but when you watch that video, it does actually make sense that hard drives will be around for a lot longer.

Until they make (in about 3 or 4 years time) a 2 or 4tb SSD that is around $400, I don't think SSD's are going to really be THAT big.
