I am also running ubuntu Hardy 8.04 version apart from window vista in my laptop. its good idea to try new OS. When there are so many free OS are aviliable in market then what is the harm not trying one. With ubuntu you can have lot many eye catching features in your desktop / laptop and can show them to your friends. There are other good Free OS aviliable like fedora, Manditriva, SUSE Linux, Mint Linux.

That's the problem. Ubuntu isn't looking to make money off of people! In fact they're open source and give all their software free. Their goal is to provide good software that's easy to use and make it available to everyone around the world. This is what sets Ubuntu apart from Windows, MAC, or any other operating system.

I don't know why Ubuntu isn't as widely used as Mac OSX, it's been around for longer, though, true, it's only really started to kick off recently, I think they could easily take over Mac OS's market share if people just told more people about it and it's features and installed it on more people's computers.

I love Ubuntu! Maybe not for video editing etc but as an OS it's awesome!!

Thanks for complimenting for ubuntu. Just for your information. We also give 24/7 support for professional use and we charge for that so its kind of free and paid both. But actually you don't need to buy professional service. there are lot of forum in ubuntu where you can find your answer.

Yeah, I was on ubuntu the other week and I just joined the chat room and although the people weren't very helpful in there, they are quick to jump on to the simple questions which is always good.
I think I need to get more bandwidth though (might swap companies, 40gb works out $25 less a month than 25gb on this current company.)

I love ubuntu
