Default Western Digital 500GB My book

Thought I would post up a thread about some external Hard Drives.

I find them to be very useful just to offload data from my desktop. I use a Western Digital 500 GB My book. It has a USB 2.0 connection. It isn't super huge or anything it is about the size of a Paperback. It turns on and off with a computer so it isn't on all the time. My biggest gripe is that there isn't any Syncing software so I used Synctoy from Microsoft just to keep some form of Versioning for my Documents, also it does get a little warm so you want to make sure it has some ventilation. All in all they aren't as small as a jump drive but they have a ton of space which is nice.

Also

Office Max has them on Sale this week for a 100 bucks well at least here in Florida.

ya ive seen those in walmarts and best buys, they come in 250 gb and the 500, and compared to other external hard drives they really arent that expensive. But this also depends how well they run.

WD has a great replacement program too, if your external breaks within the warranty period, just send it in and they'll send you a replacement. Their shipping generally takes 2 days or so, so most of the wait will probably come from the speed at which you ship it to them.

i have a Maxtor 500gig external drive and yes I agree, you can never have TOO much of space!!! hehehe

There's just one issue I am concerned with, does any one of you'll know how to measure just how much juice your drive is using? I know it may not sound that important, but when you have a stack of external drives running, I am quite sure that it will measure up to quite a lot of juice being used!!

Replies eagerly awaited!
