| For all the criticism of Microsoft and its security flaws, the software giant has made an impressive turnaround. While Vista has been derided for a variety of reasons, most would agree that it’s much more secure than Windows XP. Recently, a hacker conference showed just how vulnerable systems running Mac OS X are, due to their slow rate of patches. The Mac machine was hijacked within 10 minutes, while the Linux and Windows boxes survived the day. Now an even worse security flaw has been found in some of the basic code used by a wide variety of Linux security programs. The error originated back in May 2006 when workers on the open-source security project committed a grave and unrealized error. | NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Ubuntu D: Let's see... 2^128...3.40282367 × 10^38 That's about 3.4 with 38 0s after it. 2^15=1024 x 32. 32768 Tsk... imagine that... Thank goodness I'm not completely on Linux yet XD Edit: In my shock about Linux I have forgotten to be surprised about Windows surviving. Excuse me, I need to go choke somewhere O.O

| What I hear from most Mac users is that they can't get any viruses and their computer is more secure. This article just goes to show how they are all wrong! Windows is the way to go. I knew Wndows would come up on top. Vista is definitely more secure than XP.

And Unix is actually very secure. Mac OS X is based on Linux. I don't know about Mac, but for Linux, you need to find a virus, download it, untarball it, and run as root. Then... well... you'd kinda get what you deserve <_<

so far from my experience ubuntu and the other newest linux distros seem to be the most protected. this is the first iv heard of a major exploit, though for windows i personally know many they may not be as widespread but it happens much more often besides, over the years even with great protection iv still gotten many many viruses, whereas when i was using ubuntu i never got one ![]() | |
