So Range, while I don't disagree with your outrage, please refrain from doing exactly what the offender is doing, that's just hypocritical. And djeuro, please don't flame like that. I'm sure every single one of us has at least FIVE other reasons why others don't deserve it, yet we're not saying anything. Vista itself is a very memory intensive program (not recommended for <1GB RAM) so of course the machine might be a bit slow.

I am a software engineer by profession. I have planned to leave my job in a year or two to start up a company of my own. I would like to enter the world of animation movies. Each movie that I would produce will have a message for the society and specially for the deprived children in India. I am already associated with an oganization that takes care of deaf and dumb people. I try to help them in every possible way but still its not sufficient. Apart from this i am also associated with a group that has taken up the responsibility to teach children of *** workers in Pune. So with the help of this notebook I might be able to change life of many children.

I am a student doing my graduation in Computer Science. Being a Geek, technology is all I can think about! I know I know, most of you are probably saying how come he is proclaiming himself as a g33k (leet enough for you? :P)......well the fact that I am the top ranker in my college, having set up and managed the entire Computer lab in my college, pioneered a special 'Teach the Teachers some Tech' initiative, and being the guy who everyone calls when they have an issue, I can safely say I have used Technology in the way it was intended to be used! But being a student has its drawbacks. I am currently using an HP Pavilion dv6000 series laptop. Although its a bloody good performer, its not the Iron Man of laptops!! It can manage to run a majority of the apps that I use most often, such as Visual Studio 2k5 or Photoshop(albeit a bit slow).....but it sucks at gaming! I tried playing Bioshock on this once, but the Nvidia 7200 series gfx card, made me enjoy a slide-by-slide presentation of the starting presentation video. I gave up immediately after that, b'cos I didn't wanna keep playing the game till my first son arrives!!! I've even had nightmares that I tried to run Crysis on it and caused a meltdown! :S And since I am an avid movie buff, as well as an amateur photographer, many a times I feel that the machine is a helluva lot underpowered when it comes to editing and encoding movies. Now this is where the HP Pavilion HDX can fill a huge void in my life! Do you know what happens to the self-image of a geek when he realises his PC is slower than his neighbour, who uses it only for surfing Facebook??!! :S With this baby, I could have the most mind-blowing, teeth grinding, crysis fraggin beast in the city(I dunno how many people have this 'powerhouse' in Mumbai!) I mean just imagine how much this machine will change my life! I could play all the latest games without having to play at the lowest resolution and switching off all effects. Nor would I have to pray to god everyday to get me an xbox360(every night!!) hehehe...And no one would dare challenge me to a frag-off in CS if he ever saw my laptop!!!! Then comes in the firepower in terms of the kick ass CPU. I could convert all my movies for my PSP, MS Zune and brother's iPod with ease! That would save me so much time rather than waiting for hours waiting for the bloody process to complete! Speaking of movies, I watch all my movies on my laptop, since I do not own a television. Believe me, watching a movie on a small laptop, hunched in front of your desk, with earphones, sucks!!!! This thing would revitalise my movie watching experience. With this beauty, I could enjoy my movie watching experience in comfort thanks to that brilliantly designed remote (when I saw that, I blurted out loud " Why didnt I think of that?!") and that 20 inch screen would be sweeeeeeeeet! And that in-build TV Tuner will give me my TV fix whenever I crave for it!! Speaking of a 20 inch screen, having so much screen real estate would help me in my designing. I design small websites and graphics to earn some money on the sidelines. And a 15 inch screen isn't really helpful in that endeavour!! And those integrated Altec Lansing speakers ought to blow my pants off with their audio quality! I am already impressed with my current Altec Lansing speakers that HP has integrated with my current laptop. They sound friggin awesome. Imagining 4 speakers with an inbuilt woofer in a laptop sounds simply mind boggling to me!! I have to hand it to the HP design chaps, they must have some killer minds to design a product like this! Those speakers will do full justice to my music and movie collection that I have painstakingly collected over the years! All in all, this machine would fill every technological gap that exists in my life. I leave in June to start my MBA course, and having a top of the line lappy by my side during the two year course would make sure that I am 100% entertained and 100% productive and 200% happy!!! And having that fingerprint recognition system will ensure that my data will remain secure from the other peeps at my college! That 500 GB harddisk ought to hold all my music and pics so that I can keep my family photos and movies to watch whenever I miss them! Having wireless connectivity will ensure that I can use the WiFi facilities to stay connected and also connect my PDA to stay synchronised! This thing will simply change the way I live, work, play and most importantly it will make my 'Computing' truly 'Personal Again' !! Thank you HP and Notebooks.com for giving us this amazing oppurtunity and giving me sweet dreams at night that I may one day (hopefully) own this Stylish, powerful and multi-faceted device!

I am petroleum engineering student from Pakistan. I come from a large, middle-class family and 5 people in our house share the same pc - an AMD athlon XP. As a university student I have loads of work on the pc (assignments, researching and presentations) to do on the pc. Moreover I also maintain a blog that needs updating. All this work requires a great deal of time on the pc which leaves my brother and sisters, who go to college and also need to use the computer, waiting for a long time. Therefore we desperately feel the need for a new pc and HP HDX would change our lives for the better. At the moment we do not have the financial means to buy a new pc so I decided to test my luck in this competition. In the university I have access to a computer lab, however we can only use the lab during specified timings. This makes it difficult for me to access a computer from the university. It would be ideal if I had a notebook that I could carry to university or anywhere else. It would allow me a great deal of mobility instead of being cut-off from the social life and sitting in the computer lab during free time. I need that mobility to enhance my productivity so that I can do things quickly in case of any emergency or when trying to meet strict deadlines. My current pc doesn’t allow me to do a great deal of multi-tasking. It doesn’t have the computing power to help me save valuable time. With a HP HDX I hope to do several tasks simultaneously. Like listening to music, working at an assignment or an engineering application (matlab or autocad) and running an antivirus all at the same time without affecting the performance of any of the programs. Currently our country is going through all sorts of crises and power shortage is one of them. There are long periods of load-shedding everyday (imagine 4-8 hours without electricity). The alternative is to have a generator which is very expensive to buy and run, given the current fuel prices. This I where I feel and HP HDX could really propel me forward. Imagine the amount of time that I could make use of during one of those spells of load-shedding. I could work 2-3 hours more everyday all because of this machine. I also have a sister in Canada. She was married a couple of years ago. We love her very much but we only get to talk to her once a week on telephone. Since we also get a webcam + microphone with this prize, we could talk to her and SEE her regularly. This will be of huge help for my Mom and Dad (who are not very tech-savvy) and the rest of our family as we all miss her a great deal. I also have a lot of friends from my A’levels days that are now studying abroad. It would be great if I could talk to them regularly again. Chatting helps but it would be great to have a live video conversation. The one passion I have, which will not subside is that for Manchester United Football Club. I am in love with it. The pc that I have has a 40GB diskspace. That’s only just enough for all the windows and other programs that we have on stored on it. It would be great to have a huge diskspace like the HP HDX so that I could record or save match highlights and videos etc. Tonight (21st May 2008) United are playing Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League final. I cannot even dream of watching the game at the stadium. I will watch it on tv (only if we don’t have a power cut). It is the biggest game of the season and it would be great if I had the means of storing the highlights, goals, incidents etc. I would also like to make a confession here. Majority of the software I use is pirated. That’s what everybody uses over here in Pakistan – windows, MS office or anything else. I want to get myself out of this hole. The thing I like best about this package is that, you get free, non-pirated software with it. I have hated piracy but in our country, with our standard of living you have to accept it somehow. But this is a wonderful prize is made very special for me because it allows me to change for the better. Finally I will be able to use copyrighted software without being guilty conscious! Moreover I will than be able to criticize and discourage software piracy openly, as I won’t be using pirated software myself any longer. The HP HDX will also allow me to play many advanced games on my pc. I have always been a fan of FIFA games series. I have played them from 1998 – 2005, every single one of them. However my current PC specifications don’t allow me to play beyond that. I had FIFA 06 but it would not run. However I have kept hold of it ever since, waiting for a time when I have the right machine. Another game I want to play desperately is GTA San Andreas; I have had a copy it ever since it came out. Moreover a little bragging about my new pc notebook would not be out of order. My class mate bought one last week for RS 44,000 and he was telling everybody about it. It would be fun when I tell him that I have got a special one from HP. Lastly owning an HP HDX would be matter of great pride for me. I hope it doesn’t make me arrogant. I plan to share it with my family and friends. But it will remain my personal possession. It will be something owned by me. Wow! Congratulations to you if you made it thus far. The single most important reason for me to deserve this prize is that I need it. In fact my family needs it. It will be something big for me, biggest thus far as nobody around me would have seen anything like it before. Maybe I sound like an idiot or a wannabe or like an immature kid but this notebook means a world to me. It could propel my career to new heights as I leave for my summer internships this June. I will also be starting my final year project within the next 4-6 months. That’s how much I need this thing. This prize will be something that I would value and treasure forever. And If I get it, everybody around the world will know for certain that a god does exist and that miracles do happen. Many congratulations to whoever wins it. The End Note: As far as Task 2 is concerned, I don’t feel the need to ask my friends and family to tell others why I deserve this prize. They would say more or less the same things over again. I have tried to explain everything in detail and I am confident that I can defend each word that I have written alone. I am aware that this may count against me. As far as Task 3 is concerned, I will try my best to complete it. However I am not a tech savvy person and I will not try creating unecceary threads or posting unnecessary discussions. If I have something useful to contribute I will do it and once I have my own notebook, I am sure I will have a lot to contribute.

Since when did it change (according to you) from 10 videos to 5, and which in fact, I had 4 and 2 of them had nothing to do with HP being at fault, the third one was at hps fault, the faulty hardware it came with. I have a great camera, I saved up so much for it JUST for youtube alone and it doesn't even work to its full potential on my pc, my headset is good? then why did it break- i treated it VERY well like all my tech products? You obviously are not posting the facts because you have never used my system, so stop trying to make it sound as if I don't deserve this computer JUST because I EARN MY MONEY TO PAY FOR MY PRODUCTS THAT I USE, and it took me bloody ages too, and even so, I'd be putting this computer to great use, setting up a company helping hundreds of employees if it got big enough, thousands. I can't beleive how much you are defaming me and my computer in this contest, its not funny.. or in your words, it jsut pisses me off

Seems christheferal and djeuro aren't realy friends... ![]() That's very sad because the admin told us to make friends online, on this forum. I must admit that last days people are posting for just getting a post. I thought the admin told us to make quality post and the quantity doesn't matter. (Although I hope this is true). Some people don't have to post like 24/7, like me. Always remember quality is what all people are looking for. Please stop fighting or discussing now, christheferal and djeuro. If this goes on I think you BOTH will be disqualified. And I want honest and good people that win the notebook. I know everyone want this notebook and it's maybe frusterating people they don't get them. (Always remember you are not alone. I also entered 7 contest and didn't win. So relax. The contests are opportunities to win a great machine, but this contest is NOT created to get opportunities to make enemies! EDIT: @Chris: Quote: "I can't beleive how much you are defaming me and my computer in this contest, its not funny.. or in your words, it jsut pisses me off" My computer, you didnt win yet. lol, just kidding :P Djeuro mean you can easily register @ notebooks by changing IP or registering at someone else his computer. Admin will never be able to check this... unfortunately ... Last edited by Larrabee; 05-21-2008 at 01:39 PM.

As a member of Gathering Artists, I would love for Wayne to win the computer. Our group and it's newsletter would benefit. Wayne is so good on the computer, so it is a shame he doesn't have a good one. His artwork is somewhat dependent on his computer, and if you've ever seen his work, you'd want him to have the very best tools to help him make his magic for the eyes! Fox

Thanks for reminding me though, I admit, I need to take a chill pill because I hate it when people lie about things like this. ![]() I do apologize for any outbursts(?) I may have had towards djeuro, but really, you can understand my reasoning behind it - no that doesn't make it right, so I am simply going to ignore djeuro in this contest page and if he does say anything more about me or my computer, the notebooks.com staff can ask me or research or whatever, because I do not cheat in these sorts of things and to accuse me of that is just really frustrating for me, it could get me disqualified JUST because somebody said something, it doesn't make it true... Hopefully we can get along in other forums djeuro ![]() Sorry and thanks for understanding ![]()
