It's never too late, although your chances are probably smaller.

(BleepingComputer has a member with a very witty signature: They say if you put the AOL CD in your computer upside down, it plays the music of the devil. If you put it the right way, it actually installs AOL!! O.O)
It received some bad reports about adware bundles, I think.
I use Google Talk since I don't really go on any of the other IM clients.
